OWA and GMAIL

OWA is the exchange server protocol that provides web mail access. It is also what my Droid uses to retrieve email via the Touchdown app. If my Droid can access it that way why can't GMAIL do the same type of access? POPmail is not enabled on the exchange server and will not be enabled. GMAIL help forum keeps calling it an exchange issue. I no longer believe that since I have gotten access to my email on four different mobile devices via apps. All of the apps used the OWA server web address to work. Come on Google, get this working! You keep telling me GMAIL is the best email client. Prove it!
